Our European River Cruise on the Danube

For going on three years I have been itching to sail through Europe on a river cruise. My wife Linda and I have been ocean cruising

since 1993 and love everything about it. We knew that a river cruise would be much different and Linda was not quite as eager as I was to give it a try.

But over the course of these past three years we have assisted so many of our clients in booking river cruises that we decided it was time to

experience it for ourselves. For our first trip we chose Avalon Waterways and one of there Active/Discovery itineraries on the Danube River.

Our journey began with three wonderful days in Budapest, Hungary before our cruise.

We arrived at the Intercontinental Hotel Budapest in the late afternoon and had a short rest before venturing out for dinner.

By the time we exited our hotel the sun had already set and we were completely in awe of the beauty that was Budapest as night. Paris may lay claim to

the title of “City of Lights” but Budapest certainly gives them a run for their money.

After dinner we took a short stroll along the river before having a night cap at the hotel bar then headed up for a good night’s sleep.
