Oasis of the Seas
After spending the last two days on Royal Caribbean’s newest ship the Oasis of the Seas it is hard to think of anything they left out.
If ever there were a ship built to accommodate people from all ages and interests this is the ship.
We spent most of the time spewing adjectives like Wow! Incredible! Did you see that!
Most areas of the ship make it very hard to believe that you are even on a ship to begin with. Whether strolling through Central Park or shopping and eating your way down the Royal Promenade it feels much more like being in a small town than a big ship. The way that the ship’s “neighborhoods” are separated it never feels overcrowded in any one area.
And after touring the many different stateroom categories we were very impressed with the number of options. Just take the balcony rooms for example. You can have a traditional balcony overlooking the ocean. Maybe you like to people watch and prefer a balcony over the Boardwalk or how about a balcony over the beautiful and tranquil Central Park. And let me not forget to mention the incredible Aqua Class Suites overlooking the Aqua Theater on the aft of the ship.
But the crown jewel of staterooms on this ship would have to be the first ever Loft Suites. Two stories of beautiful décor and a giant floor to ceiling view of the ocean without ever leaving your bed.
When considering this ship, do not attempt to compare it with any other you may have sailed on. It really is that different. In fact I would use the term “game changer” to best describe the Oasis. Yes it has the Royal Promenade first made available by Royal Caribbean on their Voyager class vessels and then on the Freedom class. But this takes it to a whole new level. For example the Royal Promenade on the Oasis is more than two times wider than her Freedom class predecessor.
The last topic for today’s blog is the many different dining options on board. There is the elegant three story main dining room and the very popular Windjammer Café. But it is the addition of many new specialty restaurants that really adds to the dining experience on Oasis.
For casual dining you have burgers at Johnny Rocket’s diner or Seafood, ribs and wings at the Seafood Shack, both located in the Boardwalk neighborhood. Then there is the Park Café, Wipe Out Café, Sorrento’s Pizza and of course Café Promenade.
But wait, there’s more. For family style Italian there is Giovanni’s Table and for world class dining there is Chops Grille and the most upscale restaurant on board, 150 Central Park.
And still more. Izumi Asian Cuisine offers Asian themed dining and for the health conscious they have the Solarium Bistro and the Vitality Café.
Please stay tuned for updates, photos and a video or two.
